I’m planning a trip to Tenerife and I’m curious about the weather patterns there, particularly in relation to rainfall. I’ve heard that some regions have distinct seasons, and I’d like to know if Tenerife has a rainy season. If it does, could you please provide details on when this typically occurs? It would be helpful to understand the duration and intensity of the rainfall during that period, as it might affect my travel plans and activities. Thank you!
Answer
Yes, Tenerife does have a rainy season, which mainly occurs from late September to early April. During this time, the island can experience more rainfall, especially in the northern areas.
The rain usually falls in short bursts rather than all day, so you can still enjoy plenty of sunshine. January and February tend to be the wettest months.
The southern parts, like Playa de las Américas, are typically drier and sunnier. If you visit then, pack an umbrella just in case, but you’ll likely find lots of blue skies too.
