A lot of Tenerife’s beaches have black sand, and that’s one of the things that makes the island feel different.
Playa Jardín in Puerto de la Cruz is a classic example, with dark sand and a more dramatic, volcanic look. Playa de los Guios at Los Gigantes also has black sand, and the cliffs behind it make the whole place feel quite striking.

The black sand can get very warm underfoot, so you’ll notice it quickly on sunny days.
