January is usually the coldest month in Tenerife. Even so, it is still mild enough for many people to swim, walk, and sit outside during the day.
The north and higher areas feel cooler than the south, especially in the evening. If you are planning a winter trip and want the warmest feel, pick a southern resort and expect the nights to be fresher than the afternoons. Tenerife does not get proper cold in the way many mainland European places do.
