Santa Cruz de Tenerife is the main city and the island capital. It is where a lot of the island’s administration, shopping, and port activity are based.
La Laguna is also very important, but Santa Cruz is the one most people mean when they ask for the main city. It feels more like a working city than a holiday resort, so it is a different type of visit from the south.
