If you want warm sun without feeling like you’re queuing for everything, go late April to early June or September to early November. Winter has that lovely “you’ve escaped the UK grey” feeling but it’s busy and prices jump, especially around Christmas, New Year and half terms.
Summer is hotter, especially in the south, and you’ll notice it on the beaches where every lounger seems taken by lunchtime. Shoulder months still feel properly warm, you can swim, eat outside at night, and actually get into restaurants without booking days ahead.
